2nd Party Audit FAQ’s:
What are 2nd party audits used for?
2nd party audits determine the suitability and effectiveness of a system from the customer's perspective. Where 3rd party assessments determine conformance, a 2nd party audit will provide valuable information regarding the structure of the systems in place, inevitably activating improvements.
Why a 2nd party audit?
Organizations typically undertake 2nd party efforts to gain confidence that their supply chain is consistently meeting standards and effectively applying guidelines. 2nd party audits ensure that your brand and values are not being compromised, thus reducing the risk across your supply chain.
Why subcontract 2nd party audits?
Organizations with more than one supplier find that the scheduling and logistics of a 2nd party audit can be overwhelming. It is likely that an organization will have only a few resources that are knowledgeable and equipped to conduct a 2nd party audit, and time constraints can spread resources even thinner. Subcontracting these efforts can create a significant cost savings in training and logistics because these activities are conducted, efficiently and effectively, by the subcontracted firm.
What’s next?
As organizations continue to stay ahead of the competition, it becomes clearer that the company’s reputation, growth and economic viability are directly correlated to quality. If available in-house resources are compromising quality, it is wise to consider subcontracting 2nd party efforts.
